Tasting notes & comments
Au Clos Grand Cru Chasselas 2024
This Chasselas comes from vines planted in 1978 on clay-loam soils. The bouquet immediately reveals a certain “richness” in terms of both density and nuances of pear and nectarine, as well as hints of anise and white flowers. Supported by a structure that lends it a certain breadth, the wine is elegant, velvety, and expressive. It owes this quality, among other things, to subtle bitter notes that enhance its aromatic character and length. A complete, accomplished, and serene wine that stands out above the 2024 vintage. Long live Chasselas! Now – 2039 94/100
Mont de Vaux Grand Cru Chasselas 2024
The bouquet of Mont de Vaux promises a deep and subtle wine. Indeed, it is diversity that takes center stage through a multitude of nuances, without any single one dominating the others. This enhances the wine’s complexity. What an olfactory delight! Notes of blond tobacco, hay, anise, and white-fleshed fruits create an exceptional dynamic. On the palate, the balance between finesse and character is reinforced by a structuring acidity that works behind the scenes, alongside subtle bitterness and a linear profile. The saline quality enhances the freshness, while the tannins lend vigor. A wine that is perhaps cerebral, but also heartfelt! It is lively, persistent, and exhilarating! Now – 2039 94/100
Mont de Vaux Grand Cru Chasselas 2020
Superb bouquet: This Chasselas, already complex in its youth, is now even more expressive, more defined, and more closely tied to its terroir, with notes of flint, white flowers, and stone fruit. Full-bodied and slightly creamy, the wine showcases its power—while remaining, of course, subtle—and boasts exceptional length. A mouth-watering, enveloping, and long-lasting wine. Now – 2045 95/100
Roman Grand Cru Chasselas 2024
This Chasselas comes from young vines grown on soils composed of moraine as well as more well-drained siliceous soils. Right from the start, the bouquet displays complexity and depth. Very pure in style, it reveals floral notes, a hint of citrus, and nuances of white-fleshed fruits (pears, apples). Slightly salty on the attack, the wine is elegant, airy, and supported by a structure that highlights both its fruity expression and its freshness. A savory, mouth-watering wine that leaves you wanting more. 90/100
Pinot Blanc 2024
What subtlety in this bouquet, with nuances spanning a wide range of flavors, including notes of passion fruit, citrus, flowers, and stone fruits. The wine stands out for its elegance and its linear, slender character, while also displaying vigor and savory depth. An expressive and persistent wine. 2027–2037 93/100
Altesse 2023
The impact of barrel aging is certainly pronounced, yet it leaves room for floral, spicy, and fruity nuances. The sweetness of the wood is noticeable on the attack, though it is quickly balanced by a refreshing minerality. This is a wine that needs time to open up and integrate its oak, but the foundation is excellent! What a long finish to this intense wine. A wine to watch over time. 2027–2040 93–94/100
Noblesse de Chardonnay 2023
The subtlety of the aging process goes hand in hand with the wine’s complexity. It is the details that drive this wine, even within its oaky profile. This last point is crucial; the wood’s sole purpose is to carry the wine forward and highlight its inherent qualities—such as white-fleshed fruits and citrus—led by an elegant reduction. Dense and linear, the wine possesses a structuring acidity that effectively counterbalances its fullness and contributes equally to both the wine’s freshness and its character. 2028–2038 93/100
Pinot Blanc 2014
Youthful and vibrant, the bouquet reveals hints of hazelnuts and white-fleshed fruits, followed by a mineral note. On the palate, the wine combines salinity, structure, and balance! Beautifully lingering on the finish. Drink now – 2034 93/100
Raissennaz Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2023
The bouquet of Raissenaz combines richness and finesse. The old vines yield no more than 30 hl/ha and are planted on soil consisting of approximately 70 cm of topsoil over a limestone layer. The term “Raissenaz” means “narrow strip of land.” The density implied by the bouquet is well integrated on the palate. The wine features powerful yet elegant tannins. They provide a solid foundation and enhance the aromatic expression in harmony with the acid structure. A wine that is still in the “building” phase. It needs time, but what it shows today offers promising prospects. 2028–2040 93/100
Pinot Noir Les Lugrines 2023
Vines in Monnaz, a plot located upstream of La Morge. The 2023 Les Lugrines was aged for 18 months in large oak casks. The bouquet unfolds with delicacy and subtlety. It is characterized by freshness, which bodes well given the warm conditions of the vintage. Spicy notes go hand in hand with aromas of red berries… yet another element that speaks to its freshness. On the palate, the wine impresses with its slender, velvety character. Supported by structuring acidity, it benefits from the subtle backing of perfectly integrated tannins that emerge on the finish. A wine that gains in flavor expression as time goes on; the groundwork is well laid. Now – 2038 92/100
Champanel Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2023
Grown in fairly deep soils composed of clay and active limestone, this Pinot Noir was aged in a 3,600-liter cask. The bouquet stands out for its freshness, with hints of red berries and spicy notes. With good body, the wine features velvety, elegant tannins that gradually unfold, asserting themselves on the finish. An expressive and harmonious wine with character and finesse. 2027–2038 92/100
Servagnin 2023
Blended from various plots in Préverenges (clay and sand), Colombier, and Romanel-sur-Morges, this Servagnin highlights its spicy character combined with freshness. The fruit is rather subtle, at least at first. It comes to the fore as the wine opens up, revealing notes of red and black berries followed by a hint of Sichuan pepper. On the palate, the wine displays a firm, yet not harsh, character. It is simply lively, linear, perhaps angular, but by no means harsh. A wine with character and ambition. Time will bring it together. The foundation is solid, and that is where it all begins. 2027–2037 91–93/100
Syrah 2023
Aged in 500-liter barrels for 12 months, followed by 6 months in large oak casks (no new barrels). Sandy soils in Préverenges facing the lake. The grape variety’s character is evident from the first sip, with notes of black pepper and violets complemented by a hint of blackcurrant. Slender in style, the wine is linear and muscular. A true long-distance runner who could certainly excel at the 100-meter dash, but I can easily see him tackling a 10,000-meter race! Best enjoyed both young and as it ages. 2027–2037 93/100
